USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN
CAMPGROUND BOOKING APP
Bodey Campground is a local campground and event space whose target customers visit Mt. Airy, NC mostly during the summer to see Andy Griffith’s hometown of Mayberry. Bodey’s focuses on providing comfortable lodging for families, couples, and older campers who enjoy the outdoors and want a variety of activities to choose from. They offer learning workshops, live music, community socials, and more. Located minutes from downtown Mayberry and adjacent to a cattle farm, Bodey’s strives to be community-centered but welcoming to visitors. The property includes individual and group primitive campsites, RV campsites, a music stage, an indoor event space, two ponds, and short hiking trails. Featuring eco-friendly, zero-waste camping and events, Bodey Campground is intended for true nature lovers.
Bodey's found that customers often called the campground to book sites because they were having trouble doing so from the app. Users were frustrated at the time it took to find an appropriate campsite and the lack of information available to them on the website and app. Additionally, users ages 60-65 had difficulty viewing photos and other information.
I was tasked with conducting further user research and designing a user experience that would remedy these pain points for Bodey Campground's customers and ultimately increase business for the campground.
